We know the struggles of having problematic, oily and acne-prone skin. It seems like no matter what you eat or what you cleanse it with, your skin just seems to rebel against you at every chance it gets just like when you were young and you thought it was cool to skip class and hang out at the local shopping centre (it wasn't).
One thing that will 110% help? A face oil.
We admit the idea of covering your face in oil does sound a little icky but we're not just talking about any old oil, say like the vegetable oil that's been sitting in your pantry for the last 2 months. No sir, we're talking about oils that have been specifically designed to nourish your skin, calm it the f down and treat it right.
But not just temper-tantrum skin can use face oils, there's an oil for everyone (if you couldn't already guess from the title of this blog). To help you out in your quest in getting the glowying-est, dreamiest, most radiant looking skin, we've provided a comprehensive list of the best face oils going' 'round (you're welcome).
Before we get into the nitty-gritty details, we're gonna debunk a skincare myth. YOUR SKIN NEEDS OIL TO FUNCTION HAPPILY. Okay sorry for shouting at you but it's important. You need to be mindful of the products you're putting on your face as most of them strip the oil from your skin, leaving it irritated and seeing red (much like your boss when you ask for more annual leave even though you just got back from an overseas holiday). Each time we tell the oil in our skin to giddy-up and hitch a ride back to where it came from, our skin overcompensates and produces more oil which then traps in all the nasties that you most definitely, 100%, absolutely don't want. In other words, don't try to separate your skin and its oil. Because they will find their way back to each other. And they'll be very unhappy that you tried to keep them apart. And they'll retaliate. Hard.
For a lightweight and breathable face oil, you want Jojoba. Not only is it really fun to say* but it's also perfect for combination skin that needs a little bit of extra moisture. Jojoba oil likes to mimic our skin (in a good way), the wax esters in Jojoba are identical to the natural sebum produced in our own skin making it super penetrating at a deeper level to hydrate and help control your shine + breakouts so you don't end up competing with the disco ball at your best friend's 70's themed birthday party.

Collected remnants of the winemaking process, this oil manages acne (you can bet it asks for 10%) and both moisturises and balances the skin. This oil is for all you slimy sisters out there a.k.a the ones that haven't seen or felt a dry patch on their skin since they were born. Grape Seed Oil will matte-ify your skin so you don't look greasier than the pizza you ordered at 2am this morning and will help you look soft and smooth. Honestly though, you had us at wine.

Helping to relieve irritation (we don't know her), Sweet Almond Oil helps to soften the skin leaving it smoother than a baby's butt. Rich in Vitamins A & E, this oil acts as your antioxidant fairy godmother, helping to both reduce any redness and gently cleansing your skin so you can go back to being your non-dry, non-flakey skinned self.

Full of anti-ageing properties, Hemp Seed Oil will have your face lookin' and feelin' really good thanks to its ability to firm your face and tighten your skin's appearance.

When your skin's being naughtier than a fourteen-year old that's just been told that curfew is at 10pm, you know it's time to bring out the big guns, and by big guns, we mean Rose Hip Oil. Super duper perfect for treating irritable, angry, red and acne riddled skin, this oil deeply hydrates the skin (without all the unnecessary clogging of your pores) using its fatty acids that also fades scars and says 'buh bye' to redness.

If you happen to be blessed with perfectly normal, glowin' skin naturally (tell us how you did it), then Argan Oil is the only oil you'll ever need. Incredibly rich and super smoothing, this oil is high in Vitamin E, helping to prevent your face from acquiring the dreaded skin trio: dark spots, wrinkles, and acne.
High in Omega-6 fatty acids as well as Vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant btw, the oil itself has regenerative and firming qualities owing to its fatty acids and antioxidants. All this helps to maintain the elasticity of the skin and hair whilst also helping to restore shine to hair that's gone as dull and lifeless as the indoor plant you forgot to water.

This oil pretty much does it all and we're not even exaggerating. Reducing the appearance of fine lines, helping to prevent premature wrinkle formation and brightening dark under-eye circles is all in a day's work for this skinfood superhero.
Not only that but this oil calms redness, helps to relieve sunburn, and both brightens and evens your complexion. There's honestly nothing that this oil can't do (except call your mother back). The vitamin E found in prickly pear seed oil is the highest of any plant oil on the market (3 times higher than argan oil) and it's also very high in linoleic acid (an essential fatty acid), which is proven to lighten sun-induced hyper-pigmentation, protect the skin barrier, lower water loss, and increase moisture.
Prickly pear oil also makes a great hair conditioner due to its high concentration of Vitamin E, which is one-and-a-half times as much as the very popular argan oil. The fatty acids and proteins are what allow you to get the shiny, full hair, and trust us when we say that that's definitely and absolutely what you want.
