celebrating aussie made + owned

It's not just another week, nope, it's a week to spread the love of homegrown talent.

australian made week

what is it?

The Australian Made Campaign (AMCL) has announced the launch of the first ever Australian Made Week to encourage shoppers to support genuine, Aussie products while celebrating local makers and growers around the country. AMCL want Aussie to say g'day to one extra locally made or grown product per week to help boost the country’s economy over the next 12 months.

Fun Fact: if every household spent an additional $10 a week on Australian Made products, it would inject an extra $5 billion into the economy each year and create up to 11,000 new jobs. (source: Roy Morgan)

A word from Ben Lazzaro (Chief Executive, AMCL)
“It’s an opportunity to focus on the benefits of buying local and highlight that when you buy Australian Made, you have a direct economic impact on the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Australians throughout the supply chain.
Even making a small change in your weekly shopping can create a huge difference for local businesses.”

ways to get involved?

  • Looking for and purchasing products with that state that they are Aussie made, owned or grown.

  • Shout it from the rooftops. Tell everyone you know about Australian made products by sharing a picture of your Aussie Made purchases on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Use the hashtags #AustralianMade and #AustralianMadeWeek.

  • Think about the flow-on effects of your purchasing decisions. When you buy Australian Made and Australian Grown products, you are helping to support local businesses and communities across Australia.

  • Encourage your pals and family to get involved in Australian Made Week by spreading the word on why buying Aussie is so important.

our butt naked journey so far...

From Butt Naked's conception, we’ve been proudly made and owned by Aussie butts.  We thought this week would be the perfect opportunity to share our journey: where we were, and how far we’ve come.

Patrizia, our Director and Founder, believes that your skincare and self care routine should be easy, always cruelty-free, and help you make compassionate choices without compromising on glow-tastic skin. She grew tired of searching for vegan products that were reliable and trustworthy, reading Gobbledygook claims, and going through lengthy ingredients listings with super long words that would make you hit snooze before getting to the end of the list. So, she took matters into her own hands (and her furry pal, Hunter’s, two paws), and BOOM, in 2016, Butt Naked was created. The aim: create skincare that makes looking after your skin compassionate, simpler, healthier and a lot more fun; less serious, more yay.

Patrizia

Not only are all of Butt Naked’s products certified cruelty-free and palm-oil free, they’re also vegan and suuuuuper sustainable! Patrizia puts it best:

We do our bit for the planet, so you can scrub your body + soul with confidence, knowing your products arent destroying the environment”

Another thing to know about Patrizia is that she’s obsessed with dogs (a little too obsessed, some might say). Just look at the love she had for her fur baby, Hunter (who is, and will forever be, our favourite topic of conversation). Patrizia’s love for dogs and animals is a big part of Butt Naked. Throughout the years, we’ve been able to work with Save-A-Dog scheme and donate 5% of our profits to their efforts. SADS is a Melbourne-based not-for-profit animal shelter, saving hundreds of dogs and cats from being killed every year. With a no-kill philosophy, all animals that enter S.A.D.S are given a second chance at life. But the love for animals (and Australia) continues… the team Butt Naked also sponsor a ridiculously cute Alpine Dingo named Tangle and a koala named Jimmy Jams.

At Butt Naked we have had the opportunity to work with the amazing people at Happy Boxes Project. Their mission is to support and empowers women in remote Australian regions by providing women with basic self care products. Butt Naked does their bit to support rural and remote communities by providing products to be included in the Happy Boxes Project care packages.

Patrizia’s philanthropic efforts have always been at the forefront of Butt Naked. She’s loves to support and empower women, and provide aid to animals (with cuddles from as many animals as she possibly can, along the way).

the journey + the evolution

The journey from the beginning, to the now has been fun yet full of challenging and amazing experiences. It can be tough and tiresome but when you’re doing something to help others, it’s worth the effort. Seeing your brand grow and evolve into something bigger is magic (just like the Butt Naked skincare). In the beginning, on a shoestring budget, our photoshoots where on location at Patrizia’s house. And the models? Some of Patrizia lifelong friends, always willing participants to support Butt Naked (but mainly looking for an excuse to get in the buff). As we have grown, we have been lucky enough to partner with some amazing creatives and humans to help us upscale and diversify our campaigns, but ultimately give Patrizia’s friends a break from nuding up! Along with this, our look and feel has evolved - moving towards more sustainable, and pretty (in our opinion) packaging.

All of this has brought us to where we are today. This is who we are. We’re Butt Naked and we’re proudly Australian Made!
