feel good feb
Feel good Feb is all about taking a moment for YOU. As cliche as it sounds, rarely do we stop to nourish our body, mind and soul
We have come up with a few simple steps to help you feel really damn good without having to break the budget or jetset to a balinese villa (although, that sounds pretty awesome too!)
Face
Let's kick things off with looking after our beautiful faces.
STEP 1:The first step to feeling fabulous is a face mask. It gives you an excuse to grab a cuppa and put your feet up for a few minutes. Our botanics collection will uplift your senses and help you unwind.
Whilst you're kicking back, now might be a nice time to close your eyes and take a few deep belly breaths. When we take a moment to meditate or practise gratitude, we slowly begin to cultivate the landscape for a healthy body, healthy soul and healthy mind.
Breathing deep down into the belly and exhaling through the nose, a few deep breaths let your body know that you are safe and that it is ok to relax!
STEP 2:Once you have washed off the face mask, take a few moments to focus on your lips, a gentle scrub will buff away any dryness.
STEP 3:Next up, a delightful face massage. Warm some serum to between your fingers and palms. Using gentle, but firm pressure begin to massage your lymph areas, which are under your ears and along the sides of your neck.Â
Next, knead the sides of your face using a gentle pinching action, move along your jaw and hairline work your way up to your forehead and smooth the forehead lines by pressing your fingers above your brows and moving them upward to your hairline.
Now very very, and I mean, very, gently press your fingers under your eyes and slowly slide them towards your temples.Â
And finally, use vertical strokes to massage your neck and décolletage.Â
STEP 4:And the final step in the Feel Good ritual is to lock in moisture with face and hair oil. I know, you know, we all know prickly pear is the superhero we all need in our lives. So smooth it onto your face, and the ends of your hair.
Body
Now that your face is glowing, let's focus on the other very important bit, our body!
Move
The first step in feeling good within our body is to move it in a way that feels right. Gentle stretching, yoga, jogging, dancing, walking, find what works for you. Regular exercise, no matter what, has been shown to be helpful for both our physical and mental health.
Take a stroll around the neighbourhood to awaken your senses. Breathe deeply. Notice the trees, birds, paths. Use all of your senses to connect with your environment. See whats around, smell the aromas dancing through the air, hear the sounds of your surrounds, touch the plants and trees. Take a swig of water, taste and feel the water swirling about in your mouth.Â
When we are aware of our physical body and how it feels we can move into a place of calm. Become aware of how your body moves, noticing any tension and just seeing if you can allow yourself to soften and let go.Â
Bathe
There is nothing more luxe and relaxing than jumping into the tub for a long hot bath. Create the ultimate calming ritual by adding a few shakes of our Himalayan and lavender salt scrub into the water.  This will help to ease muscle tension and to send you into a deeply relaxed state.Â
Don't have a bathtub? No problem!
Fill a bucket with some warm water and plunge your tootsies in. A foot spa is just as luxurious and relaxing, so for the full experience scrub away those hefty heels with our mint hand & foot scrub charity tins. You may even want to face mask and foot spa at the same time!
Foot Massage
For AnxietyStimulating the cardiovascular system can promote relaxation and ease some effects of anxiety.
- Curl your toes and identify the small dip between your 1st and 2nd toe right beneath the ball of your foot.
- Use your thumb to massage the area in a circular motion.
- You can also firmly press down on the area for 10 to 15 seconds.
Some people report that reflexology on the foot can relieve lower back pain even better than an actual lower back massage. You’ll want to focus on the arches along the inside of your foot for this massage technique.
- Move your thumb in short strokes from your heels to your toes.
- You can also walk your thumbs along the arch.
This technique doesn’t focus on one area. Instead, you will use a tennis or golf ball to identify areas of tightness all over your foot and release them.Â
- Roll your foot around over a tennis or golf ball until you find a sensitive spot.
- Press down to apply pressure until you feel it soften.
- Hold this position for 15 to 30 seconds.
Oil up
Now that you are feeling soft and dewy, a body oil or warming oil is the perfect way to complete your Feel Good ritual. Get naked, either alone or with someone else as you enter the gates of naked land.
Lather yourself in warming oil, focusing on areas of tension and using the same kneading method as on your face to work all the way down your arms, torso, bum, thighs, legs and tootsies. Taking care to notice those areas of strain and working to smooth them out. Perhaps you may even wish to practise positive thoughts or affirmations, perhaps even complimenting yourself on just how fabulous you are!
Rest
If you are able to, take the time now to rest. Phone free zone, lay in bed or on the sofa and just allow yourself to simply be. Exactly as you are in this very moment.
Taking a few moments within our day to rest and recalibrate has incredible positive benefits in our overall health, brain health and gives us a greater sense of the mind body connection.
